Nexus Engineering Group Celebrates 15th Anniversary
Nexus reflects on 15 years of strong growth and ambitious goals for firm’s future
Cleveland, OH – In August of 2005, business partners and longtime colleagues Jeff Herzog and Marianne Corrao joined forces to found Cleveland-based Nexus Engineering Group, LLC. This month, Nexus celebrates its 15th anniversary and looks ahead to continued growth in the years to come.
Herzog and Corrao, who currently lead the firm as President and Executive Vice President respectively, set out to create an engineering consultancy that emphasized building lasting relationships with clients over billable hours and project deliverables.
After successful individual careers in operating companies and engineering consulting firms, the two saw an opportunity to create a firm where engineers and designers work together with clients to better understand how their project work impacts the client’s business as a whole.
“From the start, our top priority has been our people,” says Corrao. “We understood that building a team of top engineering talent who also mirror our mindsets and core values would ultimately be the key to making the firm successful, and we continue investing in creating an environment where they can grow and thrive.”
Herzog and Corrao were the firm’s only employees in 2005. Today the team includes over 140 talented and hardworking professionals dedicated to expanding the Nexus business and delivering the highest quality work for the firm’s clients.
Since the firm’s founding, Nexus has grown its revenue from $500,000 in the first year to over $22 million, and from working with a single client in the oil refining sector to working with dozens of clients across five industries. One of the firm’s proudest accomplishments is maintaining lasting relationship with its clients. In fact, the very first Nexus client still works with the firm today.
“Client relationships are the cornerstone of our Nexus model,” says Herzog. “Our team approaches every project with the objective of making a lasting impact on the client’s business, both on the challenge at hand and for years to come. Over 70 percent of our growth comes from existing client relationships, which speaks to the value these ongoing partnerships offer our clients.”
Nexus has ambitious goals for the future. The firm plans to double its size over the next five years, while improving overall profitability. This will require continued investment in the Nexus team, culture, tools, technology and services. Nexus will also continue building on its commitment to better serve the client by enhancing project delivery and improving the client’s return on investment.
