Nexus Named Top Workplace in Northeast Ohio by Cleveland Plain Dealer

Firm receives additional recognition for exceptional benefits and compensation.

Cleveland, OH – Nexus Engineering Group, a full-service engineering firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio is recognized for the first time as one of Northeast Ohio’s Top Workplaces by The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Top Workplaces Award recognizes companies that make the region a better place to work by creating a people-centered culture and giving their team members a voice. In addition to its Top Workplaces Award, the firm received a Culture Excellence Award for Compensation & Benefits for having an exceptional total compensation package as compared to other firms in Northeast Ohio.

“This is a major accomplishment,” stated Jeffrey Herzog, President, “and a testament to our team and the great work environment they create at Nexus every day.”

The firm is coming off another successful year. In 2022, Nexus added 19% to its annual revenue and grew its team to more than 200 professionals across its expanded Cleveland HQ, growing Maumee office, and newest location in Midland, Michigan. The firm attributes much of its success to its team and their dedication to delivering the highest quality product to its clients.

Nexus Bets on Its Team

There continues to be strong demand for engineers, and engineering consulting services, in the markets Nexus serves but a shortage of qualified engineers can make it difficult to find top talent. Over the past five years, Nexus has invested in its team, culture, and total benefits and compensation program as a means of attracting and retaining talent.

Working with a benefits consultant, Nexus benchmarked its benefits against similarly sized firms in the same industry. It set a goal to have a total benefits and compensation program that ranked in the 75th percentile or better across a number of categories. The firm has since made significant investments in training, its internship program, tuition assistance, paternity and maternity benefits, short term disability benefits, and more.

“I am proud of our accomplishments as they relate to our total compensation and benefits package,” stated HR Director, Lisa Theis. “Implementing new benefits and improving others takes time and energy but it has been worth it to improve the Nexus experience for our team.”

In 2023, Nexus continues to focus on attracting top talent and developing its team members to stay ahead of growing demand in a competitive employment market. The firm has added a formal onboarding program, increased its budget for training and cross-training team members, and hired a dedicated recruiter who will focus on the new hire experience.

“The future is bright for our team,” commented Marianne Corrao, Executive Vice President. “I look forward to seeing what they accomplish over the coming years.”
