Nexus Reaches #7 on the Crain’s Cleveland Business Top Engineering Design Firms List
Full-service engineering company headquartered in Cleveland cracks the top 10 on the annual list of Northeast Ohio’s largest engineering consulting firms.
After a record year in 2021, Nexus Engineering Group, LLC jumped from #11 to #7 on the Crain’s Cleveland Business 2022 list of largest engineering firms in Northeast Ohio, rising for the fourth consecutive year and entering the top ten for the first time. Crain’s Cleveland Business annually ranks the top engineering design firms by the number of registered professional engineers in Northeast Ohio.
Momentum from 2020 Fueled 2021 Growth
Nexus more than doubled its reported growth in annual revenue from 2020 with a 25% jump in 2021 powered largely by deepening relationships with existing clients in refining, chemical processing, and power generation, transmission, and distribution.
Nexus’s investments in energy consulting services expanded to meet growing demand for sustainability and decarbonization support. Services include ROI assessment, planning, engineering design, process design, and project management. Several of the firm’s engagements in 2021 included energy assessments and optimizations, infrastructure modernization, cogeneration, and the development of energy storage systems for new and existing clients.
The firm also broadened its professional services for project management through the strategic hiring of new project services director Brendan Shanley. Under Shanley, the team doubled and now offers its project and portfolio management services outside of Nexus-led engineering projects, helping clients with management and reporting of project performance from planning and engineering design consulting through procurement and construction.
Continued Growth in Northeast Ohio
Preparing for future growth in the region, Nexus announced plans last July to expand both its downtown Cleveland headquarters and engineering operations in Maumee, adding an estimated 65 new jobs across the state over the next three years.
