Engineering the Future of Energy & Infrastructure

Building on the momentum of 2025, Nexus enters the new year focused on disciplined growth and transformative solutions for its clients.

Investments in data centers and artificial intelligence are accelerating the pace of energy infrastructure development and driving unprecedented demand for the critical raw materials needed to support these technologies.  As a result, Nexus’ clients increasingly require project support services geared towards providing predictable results and agility, and access to key business and technical resources.

Nexus has been preparing for exactly this moment. Over the past few years, the firm has strategically strengthened its end-to-end project delivery model by adding key talent across project services & controls, procurement, and construction management.

We have more depth in the project services, procurement, and construction management departments than we did a few years ago,” said Gabe Sciarretti, Executive Director of Client Partnerships and Growth. “Our clients have been asking for more of these services, and we listened. Now we are better positioned to help them execute their most challenging projects.”

Nexus has also expanded its Power & Energy capabilities with the addition of transmission and distribution services, complementing its already strong reputation in substation design, power systems analysis, and power generation.

These innovations, combined with the firm's commitment to engineering excellence and deep client relationships across the refining, midstream, chemicals, and power & energy markets, position Nexus well for the year ahead.

Amplifying Leadership, Culture, and Industry Standing

In 2025, Nexus strengthened its leadership structure with the promotions of a Senior Engineering Director and dedicated Engineering Directors across its office locations, along with the appointment of Market Segment Leaders to deepen market expertise and client partnerships. The firm also elevated leadership within its Chicago-area officefurther reinforcing its multi-office growth strategy.

The firm’s investment in its people extends beyond leadership. The firm implemented a new, comprehensive technical training platform designed to build foundational engineering expertise for early-career professionals, reflecting a long-term commitment to technical excellence and growing talent from within

That commitment is evident in the firm’s 90% retention rate and its recognition as a Top Workplace in Northeast Ohio by The Plain Dealer.

“Our team and their talent are the foundation of our competitive advantage,” said Herzog. “Our continued efforts around training, culture, and making Nexus a great place to work are paying off for both our team and our clients.”

Looking Ahead to 2026

Nexus enters 2026 focused on scaling with intention, strengthening internal capabilities while maintaining the technical expertise, responsiveness, and quality that clients expect. Expanding EPCm project delivery, developing specialized talent, and advancing technical systems will remain central to the firm’s growth strategy.

“Our priority is well-executed growth,” said Herzog. “We’re investing in our people, refining our processes, and ensuring we have the depth and structure to support increasingly sophisticated projects.”

With a strong foundation and a clear path forward, Nexus is prepared for an exciting year ahead.
